Curriculum

Our curriculum prepares students to meet the following learning outcomes, which state that graduates of the AuD program should be able to:

  • Provide audiology services using evidence-based best practices and professional skills consistent with an entry-level clinician.
  • Collaborate with clients and families, colleagues, and interprofessional team members in order to provide evidence-based individualized services that respect and meet the needs of diverse people.
  • Advocate for clients and clinical populations related to issues, sites, regions, and legislations using a variety of strategies and methods based upon best professional practice.

Program Requirements

Students pursuing the Doctorate of Audiology (AuD) must complete the program requirements as outlined in the West Virginia University Academic Catalog. Course descriptions, example syllabi, suggested sequence of study, and program requirements are available in the program’s Google Drive folder.

Graduation Requirements

The minimum graduation requirements for the AuD degree program are as follows:

  • Complete 99 credit hours in the graduate Audiology curriculum; 
  • Maintain an overall graduate GPA of at least 3.0 (A = 4.0);
  • Successfully complete four competency-based assessments;
  • Successfully complete the equivalent of 12 months full-time, supervised clinical experience;
  • Successfully complete a culminating project; and
  • Take the Praxis exam in Audiology.

Students must complete the online graduation application at the beginning of the semester in which they intend to graduate, and should consult the Student Handbook for additional information regarding graduation requirements.
