Educational Scholarship

Educational scholarship is a key foundational component of the fellowship program. Fellows will complete a capstone scholarly project that is flexible and can be tailored to the career goals and interests of the fellow.  Fellows will receive structured didactic training on key topics in educational scholarship including but not limited to:

  • Developing an educational research question
  • The importance of conceptual frameworks and theory in educational scholarship
  • Principles of qualitative research
  • When to use quantitative, qualitative or mixed methods approaches

Fellows will be able to choose any faculty member as a mentor for their capstone project, and may also elect to work with and utilize the resources associated with the EM REAL education research laboratory in the Division of Education and Training.
