How to Successfully Apply for a Grant at HSC
Foundation and corporate giving through private foundations, corporations and corporate-related foundations is an extremely important source of funding to support academic, capital and service projects within the Health Sciences Center and across the University.
There are also many funding sources for research through various programs to bridge funding periods, promote collaborative interactions between laboratories engaged in relevant research, increase faculty competitiveness in obtaining extramural research support, and much more.
The WVU Foundation and the WVU Research Foundation are separate 501c3 organizations (non-profit). WVU Foundation can accept gifts and non-federal grants with no "strings" attached and which do not constitute exchange transactions, where something of value is given in exchange for a gift or grant. WVURC submits proposals for and receives grants, contracts, and agreements in support of all research projects at WVU.
The completion of a minimum two-week internal review process is required prior to grant submission. Grants submitted to a Corporation or Corporate Foundation also require review for Conflict of Interest (COI) conducted through the Office of Health Ethics & Law.
