Harpers Ferry Family Medicine
The Family Medicine Practice Site is the center of the resident's learning experience and is a state of the art medical center located in the small community of Bolivar. Harpers Ferry Family Medicine is staffed by WVU Eastern Division faculty and residents. It is the largest primary care practice in Jefferson County, with more than 33,000 patient visits per year from the diverse population in the surrounding Shenandoah Valley. Physicians at Harpers Ferry provide quality full spectrum healthcare for their patients from prenatal through end of life care.
As the center of healthcare services and education in the region, Harpers Ferry Family Medicine is an ideal place for residents to hone their outpatient family medicine skills. In addition to more than 10 board certified family medicine physicians, Harpers Ferry also employs behavioral health practitioners, pediatricians, certified physician’s assistants, nurse practitioners and pharmacists. The practice has EMR and models innovative patient instruction techniques. Residents have the opportunity to follow patients throughout all three years of residency.
Jefferson Medical Center
Jefferson Medical Center is a nonprofit 25-bed critical access hospital located in Ranson, WV and is a member of WVU Medicine - East. As the only hospital in the county JMC provides a wide range of clinical services in an intimate Academic Medical Center environment. It has a 19 bed Emergency Department that sees over 25,000 visits per year. JMC is unique for a critical access hospital as it offers CT, MRI, nuclear medicine and a full OB service. The hospital just completed an OR renovation and expansion to accommodate the growing surgical services in general surgery, gynecology and orthopedics.
Berkeley Medical Center
Berkeley Medical Center is located in Martinsburg. It is a 195-bed non-profit acute care hospital. It has a 40 bed Emergency Department that see over 65,000 patients per year. BMC offers full radiology services including MRI, PET, nuclear medicine and interventional radiology; a wound care center with two hyperbaric chambers; a NICU, 20 bed ICU, Oncology services, Neurosurgery (Mazor robot) and a Cardiac Cath Lab. BMC recently expanded OR services by adding four new outpatient ORs and five new ORs in the main hospital to grow services in robotics, orthopedics, and vascular.
