Grant Funded Projects

In spite of the COVID-19 outbreak and quarantine, it is an exciting time for research in the WVU Department of Family Medicine. Dr. Courtney Pilkerton joined the faculty and became the Assistant Director of Research. Dr. Carl Shrader and a team of co-investigators were funded by WVCTSI pop-up COVID-19 grant to study the transmission, life cycle, and outbreak experiences at Sundale Nursing Home, spawning multiple research articles and case reports currently in progress among faculty, current and former residents, and medical students. For the first time ever, there are two federally-funded faculty grants with DFM PI’s underway. And there is a new Research Track curriculum being developed for the residency program.
