Inpatient Cardiology/CCU
The cardiology rotation is a block-long experience that takes place in the top rated Cardiovascular Center in the state of West Virginia. The service is run by WVU Medicine cardiology attending physicians and fellows. As an integral part of the medical team, you will have the opportunity to actively manage patients in a variety of settings, including general inpatient, step-down, and cardiac intensive care units.
You will become proficient in the diagnosis and treatment of common cardiovascular conditions including acute coronary syndrome, angina, atypical chest pain, systolic and diastolic heart failure, cardiomyopathies, valvular heart disease, thromboembolic disease, and various arrhythmias. Further, you will gain exposure to cutting-edge cardiovascular interventions, including TAVRs, LVADs, Watchman devices, and we anticipate a cardiac transplant service in the near future.
