Family Medicine Subspecialty Clinics
The Family Medicine Sub-Specialty Clinic rotation is one-block in duration. During this rotation, you will rotate through the multiple specialty clinics within the Department of Family Medicine including Diabetes Clinic, COPD Clinic, Minor Surgery Clinic, Women’s Health Clinic, Acupuncture Clinic, Weight Loss Clinic, Pharmacy Clinic, Geriatrics Clinic, and Vasectomy Clinic. This opportunity promotes your awareness of the spectrum of specialty encounters that you can provide in your future practice, including complex chronic disease management (COPD and Diabetes Clinic), female preventative health and contraceptive management (Women’s Health Clinic), and common office-based procedures (Minor Surgery Clinic, Women’s Health Clinic, and Vasectomy Clinic). While this rotation focuses on the development of clinical and procedural skills, you will also be working as a team member of a multi-disciplinary healthcare team to provide patient education regarding treatment and preventative medicine plans. These skills are invaluable in the scope of Family Medicine and will better prepare you for your future as an independent professional.
