Course Dates
Modules 1, 2, and 4 (online, self-paced) - participants may register at any time throughout the year. Modules are updated continuously as needed.
Module 3 (Live via Zoom, real-time participation required) - July 6-10, 2026, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm Eastern Standard Time (EST)
- In-Person Parasitology Lab Workshop (in person, participation optional) – July 20 & 21, 2026 at the WVU Health Sciences Center in Morgantown, WV (No additional fee)
Participants are required to complete the course within two years of registration.
Course Description
The course focuses on the imparting of essential skills and competencies in clinical tropical medicine, laboratory skills in a low-technology setting, epidemiology and disease control, and traveler's health. The didactic portion of the ASTMH course is conducted by both full-time and clinical faculty at WVU, and by visiting faculty from several American and foreign schools of medicine and public health. The course is ongoing throughout the year for self-paced learning with the exception of Module 3, which includes parasitology lab experience presented virtually for one week annually. Most lecturers have significant experience in clinical tropical medicine and/or tropical public health, and/or infectious diseases.
