TRANSFORMING STRESS STUDENT WORKSHOP This session offered by WELLWVU on Tuesday, April 24th at 12:15 in HSC Market G-288E focuses on helping students identify life stressors while showing how to positively and productively improve stress response through mindfulness practices a s you gear up for the final stretch of spring semester.
DAY AT THE BALLPARK Health Sciences Day at the WVU Ballpark planned for Wednesday, May 9th at 6:30pm. Join friends and colleagues and enjoy an evening of WVU Baseball as the Mountaineers take on Virginia Tech. Visit the link for more information.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED for Community Day at Clay-Battelle Community Health Center. They would like Med Students to volunteer in offering blood pressure screenings during the open house on Saturday, April 28th from 9:00am-1:00pm.

GTR 1 your first introduction to the Getting to Residency Program will be held April 20th at two times: 1:00pm in Fukushima and 3:00pm in 1909. Please choose one session to attend.

WVU FAMILY MEDICINE RURAL SCHOLARS PROGRAM ACCEPTING 2ND ROUND OF APPLICATIONS - The WVU Department of Family Medicine is pleased to announce that we are now accepting a 2nd round of applications for the Rural Scholars Program. This program is designed for students committed to making rural/small town Family Medicine in West Virginia a career. Qualified MS III’s are eligible for a $10,000 stipend for their fourth year and facilitated admission to WVU’s Morgantown Family Medicine Residency. The Rural Scholars Program allows for an enhanced primary care experience in the 4th year curriculum as well as early integration into the residency experience. Deadline for application is May 1, 2018 with notification date of May 31, 2018. Please contact Holly Maroon at maroonh@wvumedicine.org if you would like information on how to apply.

NBME (Shelf) EXAMS Friday, April 20, 2018. The Shelf Exam will be in the Library Computer Lab(First Floor WVU Building). You will have Desktop Computers, NO NEED FOR MAC BOOKS!!! Please arrive by 8:30am so we can check you in by 8:45am and begin at 9:00am.

PEDS Grand Rounds is broadcast from Morgantown every Wednesday 8-9 am. The first Wednesday is at the board room on the 8th floor of BMC. Remaining sessions held at the ED conference room in ED of BMC. If you are on a Pediatrics Week, please plan to attend.

Volunteer/Community Service Opportunities
Volunteer Speaking Opportunity – Prostate Cancer Support Group is looking for students to speak on various prostate cancer topics for 15-20 minutes, with a potential Q&A session. Meetings held 6:30-8:30pm on second Thursday of each month, 2nd floor of Dorothy McCormack Building. Contact Dr. Paul Kradel, 304-267-2520, if interested.
Stepping Stones/Good Samaritan Free Clinic – Volunteers needed every Wednesday at 5pm and first Tuesday of each month at 5pm. New location: 601 S. Raleigh Street, Martinsburg. To volunteer or for additional information: MS3 Ayita Verna (agverna@mix.wvu.edu).
Fun Volunteer Opportunity – Jefferson County Community Ministries Food Pantry, 238 W. Washington Street, Charles Town. 3rd Saturday of each month, beginning at 10am. Volunteers will work with Dr. Maddie Humerick, Chef Scott, and others to assist the food pantry patrons to improve their nutrition status with monthly cooking demonstrations. NAU MODULE – Psychiatry Communication session with Dr. Ryu on Wed., April 18th, 4-6pm, in Eastern HSC PEP Rooms. This is REQUIRED for WVU students. Be sure to notify your preceptors that you will need to be released from clinical duties early that day to participate in this session.
GTR 1.0-Session 2 – Fri., April 20th, 4-6pm, via MDTV videoconference in the Multimedia Classroom. This is a REQUIRED session for all WVU students.
