2019 SOM DISTINGUISHED TEACHER AWARD Nominations are now open! Please take a moment to consider and recognize excellent teaching/learning experiences at WVU SOM. Nominations are open through April 12.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED Second Look Weekend: The admissions office is in the process of planning the annual "Second Look Weekend" for those accepted into the Class of 2023. We are looking for students to attend a dinner/social event on Friday, April 26th from 6-9pm at Evansdale Crossing. This event is particularly important, as it lets our incoming students feel connected with current students. Please email Aly Carpenter if you would like to come to the dinner!

This notification is NOT an indication of whether applicants are matched or unmatched but rather an indication of their ability to participate in SOAP if they learn on Monday of Match Week (11:30 am EST) that they are unmatched or partially matched. In preparing your schedule for Match Week, please further note that Daylight Savings Time starts at 2:00 a.m. ET, Sunday March 10. You’ll likely receive additional emails regarding the timelines for NRMP Match and SOAP in preparation for next week. Keep in contact with your Campus Deans as needed. We’re going to have a great match!

GLOBAL HEALTH ROTATION Dr. Cannarella Lorenzetti (from Eastern Campus) on a humanitarian global health trip with the Patch Adams organization. Dr. Lorenzetti is planning now to go to Morocco in last several days March /first week April 2020 with same organization.

Fun Volunteer Opportunity – Jefferson County Community Ministries Food Pantry, 238 W. Washington Street, Charles Town. 3rd Saturday of each month, beginning at 10am. Volunteers will work with Dr. Maddie Humerick, Chef Scott, and others to assist the food pantry patrons to improve their nutrition status with monthly cooking demonstrations. Volunteers Needed – Chronic illness group and their support system is looking for speakers to give 45-minute presentations on the first and third Tuesday of each month. Meetings held 9-10:30am in the Dorothy McCormack Center, 2nd floor conference room. Topics can be health-related, inspirational, supportive, educational about coping mechanisms, sharing a story/experience, or a fun activity. Graduate Medical Questionnaire – All 4th year medical students are asked to complete regarding your medical student learning experience. 100% participation is encouraged. Students who complete the survey will be entered into a prize drawing for a Sheetz gift card, to be held on Mar. 1st. May 1st – All graduation requirements must be met. Includes passing scores on Step 2 CS, CK, CPX, 100 hours of community service, and satisfactory evaluations in all 4th year clerkships.
