Students for Organ Donation Interest Group
Mission
The Students for Organ Donation Interest Group has been created to meet the interests and needs of medical students at West Virginia University School of Medicine who are interested in the field of organ donation, transplantation, and transplant surgery. In coordination with the mission of the West Virginia University Department of Transplant Surgery and the Center for Organ Recovery and Education (CORE), the goals of the Students for Organ Donation Interest Group are as follows:
- to provide a meeting place for the teaching, learning, and discussion of issues relating to transplant surgery and organ donation;
- to promote professional relationships between medical students, resident physicians, attending physicians, and transplant surgical staff;
- to encourage involvement in community service that benefits CORE.

Bylaws
1. Any student currently enrolled in West Virginia University School of Medicine is eligible for membership.
2. The Students for Organ Donation Interest Group will meet monthly during the school year, from September to April, and more often if deemed necessary by the members.
3. The Students for Organ Donation Interest Group will be governed by an elected body of medical students that consists of a president, vice president, secretary, event coordinator, and community service liaison. Officers will be elected at the last meeting of each year by the members of the Students for Organ Donation.
4. The Students for Organ Donation Interest Group will work closely with a faculty sponsor in the Anatomy Department and members of the Center for Organ Recovery and Education who understand the goals of the group.
