Division of Infectious Diseases
The WVU Department of Medicine Division of Infectious Diseases provides expertise and care for patients with viral, bacterial, protozoal, and fungal diseases. Scholarship and mentoring are cornerstones of our division as our residents, fellows, and faculty members work together in a learner-centered approach to education and service to the community. Working alongside our trainees, our expert providers evaluate patients with a wide range of infections including HIV, bone and joint infections, hepatitis, respiratory viral illnesses, and more.
We Provide:
- Consultation in infectious diseases for both inpatients and outpatients
- Diagnosis and treatment of infectious diseases, including viral, bacterial, protozoal, and fungal infections
- Diagnosis and treatment of travel-related and tropical infectious diseases
- Treatment of HIV
- Treatment of Hepatitis C
- Pre-Exposure HIV Prophylaxis (PrEP) services
- Outpatient Parenteral Antimicrobial Therapy (OPAT)
- Complex Outpatient Antimicrobial Therapy (COpAT)
- Consultation on infection prevention policies and procedures
- Consultation on antimicrobial stewardship
- Consultation on diagnostic stewardship
