The Department of Medicine hosts several conferences throughout the year that allow faculty, residents, fellows, and other learners to share advancements in their specialties with one another. The collegial and inclusive learning environment is critical to furthering the Department's mission and vision.

Anthony G. DiBartolomeo Internal Medicine Conference

Proudly hosted by the WVU Department of Medicine, the Annual Anthony G. DiBartolomeo Internal Medicine Conference was established as part of The Anthony G. DiBartolomeo Professorship honoring Dr. DiBartolomeo and his legacy of dedication to the WVU School of Medicine, the Department and the education of students in West Virginia.

The conference provides an opportunity for internists to hear from top physicians on today’s most influential medicine topics and grow their professional network across the health system, state, and region. 

Endocrinology & Diabetes Conference

The Department of Medicine, Division of Endocrinology hosts the conference bi-annually where participants engage in cutting-edge research, hands-on workshops, and multidisciplinary lectures on diabetes care and management.  This conference provides an opportunity to discuss unique barriers to care for patients with diabetes and identify actions to overcome these in a patient-centered manner.

John E. Parker WVU Pulmonary and Sleep Symposium

The John E. Parker WVU Pulmonary and Sleep Symposium is hosted by the WVU Department of Medicine, Division of Pulmonary, Critical Care and Sleep.

This conference has been designed for physicians, advanced practice providers, nurses, and members in the healthcare field interested in up-to-date information on inpatient and outpatient adult Pulmonary Lung diagnosis and Sleep Disorders.

Mountain State IBD Symposium

The Mountain State Inflammatory Bowel Disease Symposium, hosted each spring by the Department of Medicine, Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology, is the first and only inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) specific conference in the state of West Virginia.

The symposium features top thought leaders in IBD discussing topics that include the latest treatment, managing complications of the disease, health maintenance and surgical aspects. We will also highlight the latest advances and state-of-the-art interventions. The course includes lectures, case presentations, and break-out sessions. There are also ample opportunities for networking and collaboration.

This course is designed for the entire IBD healthcare team including gastroenterologists, internists, colorectal surgeons, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, radiologists, pathologists, residents and fellows, nutritionists, and nurses and pharmacists.

WISE Conference | Division of Gastroenterology & Hepatology WVU Interventional Surgical Endoscopy

WISE Conference, hosted by the Department of Medicine, Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology, is a premier educational event attracting participants from across the nation. This conference showcases live endoscopy cases from WVU Medicine Ruby Memorial Hospital, with lectures from leading experts in endoscopy and intensive hands-on training sessions to enhance participants' skills. The sessions highlight the latest advancements in endoscopic techniques and patient care. The academic rigor of the event is complemented by the relaxing atmosphere of Nemacolin Resort, providing attendees with both intellectual stimulation and exceptional leisure opportunities.
