Endocrinology Track

The Division of Endocrinology is excited to work with the Internal Medicine department to offer an Endocrinology Track starting in 2026. 

Residents enrolling in the Endocrinology Medicine Track will develop valuable skills in ambulatory and inpatient management of common endocrine-related conditions like thyroid disease, diabetes, hyperlipidemia, adrenal disease, pituitary disease, bone disorders, transgender hormone care, and hormone replacement therapy. This training will benefit residents pursuing various career paths, particularly primary care, and subspecialties such as diabetology, endocrinology, obesity medicine, or academic medicine.  

Track Timeline

PGY-2 and PGY-3 years

  • Do one half-day of endocrinology medicine continuity clinic or TCC (transition of care clinic) within Endocrine clinic to replace a half-day of personal MGP continuity clinic. 
  • Complete one month of ambulatory endocrinology clinic each year while in the track. 
  • Participate in QI/research projects related to endocrinology. 

Once in either PGY-2 or PGY-3 year 

  • Attend the WVU Endocrinology Symposium during the years this is offered 
  • Present one Endocrinology-related QI/research project at a state, regional, or national meeting. 
  • Present at one Endocrinology journal club/care team conference while in the track. 
  • Attend journal club/care team or other Endocrinology related educational conferences when they do not interfere with required residency conferences. 
  • Attend any Endocrinology-sponsored CME events occurring while in the track.
