Vascular Neurology
The vascular neurology fellowship is 12 months long. While the objective of any fellowship subspecialty training is aimed at acquiring the necessary clinical skills and fund of knowledge applicable to the chosen field, our program is tailored to the interests of our fellows and includes a strong foundation in cerebrovascular research. Our fellows spend 16 weeks in rotation on the inpatient stroke service, 2 weeks in the neuro critical care unit, ½ day per week in vascular neurology clinic, 3 months of electives and the remainder of time devoted to research. Our electives include Neuroradiology/Neurointervention, Emergency Medical Services and pre-hospital care, or an additional month of research or Neurocritical Care. As a program, we are also flexible with the option of creating a different elective depending on our fellows’ interests. A particular emphasis is placed on stroke systems of care, locally, regionally and nationally with opportunities for fellows to participate in state stroke and EMS committees, telestroke networks and attend and/or present at national conferences.
Please see benefits section under Neurology Residency Training tab. All benefits received by residents are applicable to fellows with the exception of travel allowance which will be determined by fellowship leadership.
