The Surgical Oncology Externship is offered to rising 2nd year medical students pursuing interest in the multidisciplinary field of surgical oncology – breast, colorectal, and hepatobiliary surgery. Externs will become part of the team actively participating in the OR and clinical settings, gaining knowledge and skills from exposure to oncology procedures, patient care, and management. The externship is a 4-week course offered in the summer months of June/July. There is no stipend for this externship.
Interested students should email completed application to Rochelle Thomas. Criteria for selection will include: completed application and 2 letters of recommendation (one from the Dean of Students). This externship is available to WVU students only.
