“Our volunteers give their time to improve the quality of life of our patients and their families,” Kimberly Hartsell, WVU Hospitals Volunteer Services director, said. “We take the time once a year to formally recognize them for their work, but we are grateful every day for their contributions to WVU Hospitals."

In 2022, 125 adult volunteers, 178 student volunteers, 21 junior volunteers, and 16 therapy dogs served 18,260 hours. They delivered 9,450 ecards and 2,645 pieces of mail to patients and participated in 38 No One Dies Alone (NODA) vigils.

“We are always astounded when we reach the end of the year and look at the number of hours served by our volunteers,” Hartsell said.
