WVU Medicine Allied Health Solutions Specialty Pharmacy receives URAC reaccreditation

“The reaccreditation process is one that is very involved and requires frequent and diligent attention,” Samuel Yokum, WVU Medicine Allied Health Solutions director, said. “Continuing to maintain accreditation is vital for our Specialty Pharmacy, for WVU Medicine, and, more importantly, for our patients. It ensures that we are able access specialty medications through limited payer and manufacturer channels to provide safe and effective care.”

Only 497 pharmacies in the nation hold URAC Specialty Pharmacy accreditation, and WVU Medicine Allied Health Solutions is one of three URAC-accredited specialty pharmacies in the state.

URAC-accredited specialty pharmacies:

  • Provide comprehensive patient management services;
  • Promote safety and quality in dispensing practices;
  • Monitor all medication distribution processes for appropriate medication storage;
  • Provide 24/7/365 support for patients, patient advocates, and providers;
  • Comply with accreditation standards on risk management, consumer satisfaction, and performance management; and
  • Report annual performance measures to URAC.

URAC is an independent, nonprofit accreditation entity, based in Washington, D.C., the mission of which is to advance healthcare quality through leadership, accreditation, measurement, and innovation.
