CURRENT FELLOWS:

(July 2023 - June 2024) Dena Danji, MD, joined us from West Virginia University School of Medicine in Morgantown, WV.  Dr. Danji completed medical school at St. George’s University School of Medicine followed by a residency in Anesthesiology at West Virginia University School of Medicine in Morgantown, WV.    

(July 2023 - June 2024) Katelyn Glines, DO, joined us from West Virginia University School of Medicine in Morgantown, WV.  Dr. Glines completed medical school at the University of Pikeville-Kentucky College of Osteopathic Medicine followed by a residency in Anesthesiology at West Virginia University School of Medicine in Morgantown, WV.

INCOMING FELLOWS:

(July 2024 - June 2025) Jabari Capp, MD, MBA, will join us from Norton Brownsboro Hospital in Louisville, KY, where he has served as Assistant Medical Director in the Department of Anesthesiology since 2018.  Dr. Capp completed medical school at Meharry Medical College in Nashville, Tennessee in 2009 followed by a residency in Anesthesiology at the University of Louisville School of Medicine in Louisville, KY in 2013. From 2013 to 2018, he worked at East Jefferson General Hospital in Metairie, LA. He completed his MBA at West Texas A&M University in Canyon, TX in 2020.  

(July 2024 - June 2025) Gokul Thimmarayan, MD, will join us from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) in Little Rock, AR, where he is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Anesthesiology and pediatric cardiac anesthesiologist at Arkansas Children’s Hospital. Dr. Thimmarayan completed medical school at Stanley Medical College/The Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical University in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India in 2004. He initially completed his residency in Anesthesia and Intensive Care at the Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research in Chandigarh, India in 2009. He then completed a residency in Anesthesiology at Sidney Kimmel Medical College/Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia, PA in 2018. He completed his Pediatric Anesthesia fellowship at Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, OH in 2019, and then worked in the Marshfield Clinic Health System in Marshfield, WI until 2022. He then completed his Pediatric Cardiac Anesthesia fellowship at UAMS/Arkansas Children’s Hospital in 2023. 

FORMER FELLOWS:

(July 2022 - June 2023) Mohamad El Churafa, DO, joined us from the University of Florida College of Medicine in Jacksonville, FL. Dr. El Churafa completed medical school at Nova Southeastern University College of Osteopathic Medicine followed by a residency in Anesthesiology at the University of Florida College of Medicine in Jacksonville, FL. After fellowship, Dr. El Churafa joined WVU Medicine in Morgantown, WV as a cardiac anesthesiologist.

(July 2022 - June 2023) Christina Gibson, DO, joined us from Allegheny Health Network in Pittsburgh, PA. Dr. Gibson completed medical school at Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine followed by a residency in Anesthesiology at Allegheny Health Network in Pittsburgh, PA. After fellowship, Dr. Gibson joined Advent Health Tampa in Tampa, FL as a cardiac anesthesiologist.

(July 2021 - June 2022) Adambeke Nwozuzu, MD, MHS joined us from University of Central Florida College of Medicine in Ocala, FL.  Dr. Nwozuzu completed medical school at Spartan Health Sciences University. She then completed a two-year postdoctoral T32 fellowship in cardiac anesthesiology and Master of Health Science at Yale University School of Medicine followed by a residency in Anesthesiology at the University of Central Florida. After fellowship, Dr. Nwozuzu joined Orlando Health in Orlando, FL as a cardiac anesthesiologist.

(July 2020 - June 2021) E. Gail Shaffer, MD, MPH joined us from Charleston Area Medical Center in Charleston, WV.  Dr. Shaffer completed medical school and her Master of Public Health at West Virginia University followed by a residency in Anesthesiology at University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC).  Following residency, she completed a fellowship in Pediatric Anesthesiology at UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh.  After fellowship, Dr. Shaffer joined the General Anesthesia Services group in Charleston, WV as a faculty anesthesiologist.

(July 2020 - June 2021) Justin Wendel, MD, MBA joined us from Allegheny Health Network in Pittsburgh, PA.  Dr. Wendel completed medical school and a Master of Business Administration at The Ohio State University followed by a residency in Anesthesiology at Allegheny Health Network in Pittsburgh, PA. After fellowship, Dr. Wendel joined the Midwest Physician Anesthesia Services Inc. group in Columbus, OH as a cardiac anesthesiologist.
