Research

Aligned with the scientist-practitioner training model, our fellowship provides robust opportunities for research engagement and scholarly development. Research involvement is an optional experience. If desired, fellows can become an integral member of our active research team, which has a strong track record of publishing in high-impact, peer-reviewed journals. Through this involvement, fellows gain hands-on experience in clinical, translational, and applied research, with dedicated time (approximately half a day per week) set aside for research activities.

Each fellow completes a mentored research project under the supervision of Dr. Cox, with protected time allotted to support its successful execution. Fellows may choose to join projects within or outside of their primary rotation, pending approval from their supervisor, or may propose and develop their own original research in collaboration with a faculty mentor.

Fellows have access to a rich repository of clinical data through the electronic medical record system and can take advantage of institutional biostatistics support for data management and analysis. This structure provides fellows with a meaningful opportunity to contribute to the scientific literature and strengthen their research portfolio for future academic or clinical careers.
