Mission and Goals

The mission of the Division of Infectious Diseases, Department of Medicine at West Virginia University is to provide patient-centered care and innovative education, enhance scholarship and engage in service to the community.

We provide care to our patients in areas of diagnosis, management and prevention of infectious diseases including viral, bacterial, parasitic and fungal. We enhance learning and scholarship through mentoring, and learner-centered approaches.

We provide a supportive environment for professional growth. In an effort to increase outreach to patients living with HIV, West Virginia University and the Division of Infectious Diseases has instituted the Positive Health Clinic.

This program offers HIV care to patients in 33 counties of northern West Virginia. Our university’s commitment to excellence is reflected in our dedicated healthcare professionals who continue to make a difference.
