Welcome to the WVU Sleep Medicine Fellowship!

Hello there!

The Sleep Medicine fellowship program at West Virginia University is an ACGME-accredited one-year post-graduate training program which matriculates one fellow per year. Training takes place at JW Ruby Memorial Hospital, a 690-bed quaternary referral center state of the art facility and West Virginia Sleep Evaluation Center housing the state’s largest sleep lab.

The mission of our fellowship program is to train excellent, compassionate, and curious Sleep Medicine physicians who will serve as leaders in their profession, no matter where their career path takes them. We expect that our graduates will commit themselves, not only to their own education, but that of their patients, colleagues, and community and be a strong advocate for patients and their families.

To achieve that goal, we provide one year of comprehensive training in diverse subjects of sleep medicine, as well as, education from dedicated faculty in multiple subspecialties including internal medicine, pediatrics, family medicine, pulmonology, neurology, psychology and otolaryngology.

Throughout training, we work individually with each fellow to identify their personal and professional goals and provide them with unique clinical and research experiences in order to optimally prepare them for their future career in Sleep Medicine. There are numerous opportunities to develop scholarship in research, teaching and patient care.

We are proud of the diversity of our division and the complexity of cases that fellows are exposed to during their training. While we believe in the ambitious training that we provide, we constantly strive to improve via feedback from fellows and faculty. In addition to being academically stimulating, our program is collegial and supportive to help you realize your full potential. Faculty, fellows, residents and all other healthcare members work as a team with utmost professionalism. When you visit our program, you will find a warm, welcoming, and safe environment that is favorable to forming long-term friendships with faculty and fellows.

WVU is home to approximately 30,000 students. The lawn and courtyards of West Virginia University have seen more than 150 years of student life. The main university campus is situated adjacent to the  Monongahela River along which runs the scenic Caperton Trail, making Morgantown a picturesque town.

We look forward to the possibility of meeting you, learning about your goals and getting to know you.

Sincerely,

Robert Stansbury, M.D.
