Medical Education Track
The Medical Education Track is an opportunity for residents to develop teaching skills during their residency. Those interested in academic careers in general medicine, hospitalist, or sub-specialties can enrich their residency experience with teaching opportunities and mentoring.
Track Timeline
Residents apply to the track during the intern year then become a member of the Internal Medicine Program Education Committee (PEC) and Resident Curriculum Committee. During the second year, residents have additional teaching opportunities with School of Medicine students mentored by Medicine faculty. As part of the track, residents can participate in the WVU Teaching Scholars Program in June of their PGY-2 year. In their PGY-3 year, residents continue to advance in their teaching roles and have the opportunity to take a one-month education elective tailored to specific interests.
