Capabilities and Equipment for the West Virginia University Research Development Laboratory 

 

Testing Capability (RT-PCR tests)

  • Single sample mode: 4000 samples tested alongside sequencing of380 positive samples, or 8,000 samples tested per week without sequencing.
  • Pooled sample mode (4 samples per pool): 9500 samples per week alongside sequencing of 380 positive samples, or 19,000 samples tested per week without sequencing.

Testing capacity ELIZA (Antibody tests)

  • 2500 samples per week

Equipment (Molecular Testing)

  • Two Biomek I7 hybrid liquid handlers in HEPA filtrated enclosures
  • Four 96 well real time thermocyclers
  • One 384 well and two 96 well thermocyclers
  • MiSeq and NextSeq 550 dx sequencers
  • Agilent Tape station 4100
  • Qbit fluorimeter
  • Five PCR clean benches, two biosafety cabinets, centrifuges with biocontainment rotors and buckets, refrigerators and freezers

Available testing equipment at WVU RDL:

  • One Biomek i7 Hybrid liquid handler for sample extraction and RT-PCR reaction setup. A second unit is used for SARS-Cov2 sequencing and can be made available for testing if needed.
  • Four Biorad CFX96 real time thermocyclers
  • Four PCR clean benchens
  • One Beckman Avanti J15R centrifuge. A second unit is used for SARS-Cov2 sequencing and can be made available for testing if needed.
  • BSL2 safety cabinet.
  • One Tecan Evo 200 and Tecan Evo 150 liquid handler, reaction setup and plate reading.
  • One Microdrop Dispenser for ELISA plate coating
  • One additional ELISA plate reader
