Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion
As outlined in Board of Governors Rule 1.6, West Virginia University is committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive culture by promoting diversity, inclusion, equality, and intercultural and intercommunity outreach. The University does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national origin, ancestry, age, physical or mental disability, marital or family status, pregnancy, veteran status, service in the uniformed services (as defined by state and federal law), religion, creed, sex, sexual orientation, genetic information, gender identity, or gender expression in the administration of any of its educational programs, activities, or with respect to admission or employment.
The Division of Physical Therapy shares this commitment to equal educational opportunity as it seeks to prepare physical therapists who provide care distinguished by inclusion, cultural sensitivity, advocacy, trust, respect, and appreciation for both individual differences and population health disparities.
Towards the goal of fostering a diverse and inclusive culture, we are committed to enhancing diversity of students and faculty with representation of individuals from racial and ethnic groups underrepresented in the physical therapy profession and individuals from disadvantaged backgrounds, including but not limited to students who are first generation, those from defined rural areas, and individuals with disabilities who are otherwise able to meet the essential functions set forth in our linked admissions policies.
