Bariatric Conference Schedule

A. First Friday Conference (1st Friday of month)

7am-8am: Virtual lecture via the ASMBS Fellow Project, a recurring monthly interactive web-based ASMBS-endorsed program organized to fulfill the didactic requirements for ASMBS certification and standardize the required Fellowship Council Curriculum.

  • Live: First Friday of Each Month at 7am EST
  • Replay: Same Day at 12pm PST / 3pm EST

8am-9am: Didactic session with fellow and faculty that will be based on the ASMBS Core Curriculum, as well as assigned readings from the ASMBS Textbook of Bariatric Surgery. The fellows will be required to present key points from the assigned readings at conference.

B. Second Friday Conference (2nd Friday of month)

8am-9am: Research meeting to develop and discuss research project(s)/quality improvement project(s) and/or journal club (8-9am)

9am-11am: Monthly bariatric board meeting where the fellow will discuss upcoming cases and review any complications from month prior (Morbidity and Mortality)

C. There will be bi-annual interdisciplinary events with the fellow from the Nutrition, Metabolic Diseases, & Obesity Medicine Fellowship to discuss medical weight loss topics.

Bariatric Fellow required to come to monthly conference even when on off service rotations.
