All treatments have a few goals for the patients including minimizing symptoms to break the cycle of recurrent inflammation and infection, maintain a normal lifestyle and preserving lung health. Inhaled and oral therapies along with chest physiotherapy and some of the treatments that can be exclusive to CF. Cystic fibrosis transmembrane conductance regulator (CFTR) modulator drugs are cutting edge treatment for CF.
Current research efforts are focused on the SIMPLIFY-19 study, which looks at discontinuing chronic therapies following treatment with (CFTR) modulator therapy and evaluating risks for a prevalence of MRSA in CF.
