Accelerated and Early Assurance Programs

The School of Medicine Health Professions offers multiple pathways for well-qualified first-time freshmen to pursue integrated pathways into graduate and professional study.

Accelerated Programs

Athletic Training Accelerated Bachelor's to Master's Program

Well-qualified first-time freshmen (e.g., high school GPA of 3.0 or greater, direct placement into CHEM 110/MATH 124) may be eligible for the Athletic Training Accelerated Bachelor's to Master's (ABM) Program. Additionally, currently enrolled Exercise Physiology students may apply to join the ABM. The ABM provides a pathway for students to enter the Master of Science in Athletic Training program early and complete both their undergraduate and graduate degrees within five years.

Early Assurance Programs

Communication Sciences and Disorders Early Assurance Program

Well-qualified first-time freshmen (e.g., high school GPA of 3.7 or greater, 26 ACT or 1230 SAT) may be eligible for the Communication Sciences and Disorders Early Assurance Program. Enrollment in the EAP does not guarantee admission into the student's preferred graduate program, but waives certain application requirements and provides an integrated pathway from the BS in Communication Sciences and Disorders to one of the two graduate programs offered by WVU (Master of Science in Speech-Language Pathology or Doctor of Audiology).

Occupational Therapy (OTD) Early Assurance Program

Well-qualified WVU Exercise Physiology undergraduate students (e.g., be a sophomore or junior EXPH student, have an undergraduate overall and OTD prerequisite GPA of 3.0) can apply to participate in the Occupational Therapy Doctorate (OTD) Early Assurance Program. Enrollment in the EAP guarantees admission into the OTD program for EAP students who satisfactorily complete all academic, prerequisite, and admissions requirements. It also allows EAP students to engage with occupational therapy faculty and students throughout their undergraduate studies.

Physical Therapy Early Assurance Program

Well-qualified first-time freshmen (e.g., high school GPA of 3.5 or greater, 24 Math ACT or 570 Math SAT) may be eligible for the Physical Therapy Early Assurance Program. Enrollment in the EAP does not guarantee admission into the Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT), but waives certain application requirements and provides an integrated pathway from the BS in Exercise Physiology to the DPT.
