The WVU athletic training program has a rich history of educating and preparing extraordinary athletic trainers for over 50 years. Over 500 athletic training students have graduated from the program and have gone on to pursue careers in medicine, college athletics, professional sports, Olympic training centers, military, performing arts, secondary schools, and other clinical settings.

In fact, WVU alumni are athletic trainers for NFL, MLB, MLS, and NBA sports medicine teams.  In addition, our Master of Science (MS) program graduates have an overall 100% pass rate on the national Board of Certification (BOC) for the Athletic Trainer.

We will prepare you with nationally recognized faculty and state-of-the-art classrooms and research facilities.  You will have the opportunity to participate in applied clinical research, gross anatomy with dissection lab and clinical rotations in emergency rooms and with WVU Big 12 athletic teams. Inter-professional collaborations with Medicine, Physician Assistant, Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy and Nursing are also a part of learning opportunities.

We also offer multiple certifications in addition to preparing you to be an athletic trainer. Our students will also graduate with Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) training, the NASM Performance Enhancement Specialization (PES), Stop the Bleed Training, and the Graston Technique Essential Training.
