Why Choose WVU

About Us

The WVU athletic training program has a rich history of educating and preparing extraordinary Sports Medicine professionals for over 44 years.  Over 500 athletic training students have graduated from the program and have gone on to pursue careers in medicine, college athletics, professional sports, Olympic training centers, military, preforming arts and other clinical settings.

In fact, WVU alumni are athletic trainers for many NFL, MLB and NBA sports medicine teams.  In addition, our graduates have a 100% pass rate on the national Board of Certification (BOC) for the Athletic Trainer.

We will prepare you with nationally recognized faculty and state-of-the-art classrooms and research facilities.  You will have the opportunity to participate in applied clinical research, gross anatomy with dissection lab and clinical rotations in emergency rooms and with WVU Big 12 athletic teams. Inter-professional collaborations with Medicine, Physician Assistant, Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy and Nursing are also a part of learning opportunities.
