Research
Fellows must select one or more research and Quality Improvement projects to be completed throughout the fellowship. Opportunities for basic sciences research are available with WVU Pulmonary/CCM adjunct faculty at the National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH), Department of Public Health, and the Department of Biochemistry & Physiology. The NIOSH facility is adjacent to JW Ruby Memorial Hospital.
Mentorship is a cornerstone of research. Fellows choose a mentor during their first year and develop research alongside their faculty mentors. Fellows meet with their faculty mentor several times throughout the year. This ensures that the fellow stays on track academically, procedurally, and professionally.
