Welcome to the website for the Respiratory Therapy program at West Virginia University School of Medicine!

Respiratory therapy is a diverse, rewarding, and in-demand medical field. Respiratory therapists manage patients with various pulmonary disorders across a continuum of care and in a variety of settings. The respiratory therapy program at WVU recognizes in particular the needs of the state of West Virginia and strives to provide service that meets the state's ongoing pulmonary health challenges. This goal will be achieved through our partnership with WVU Medicine, as we work together to prepare and employ well-qualified and competent members of the respiratory workforce.

As a student in the Bachelor of Science in Respiratory Therapy (BSRT) program, you can expect to be part of a comprehensive educational program that prepares you well for your career. You will learn from experts in the field, participate in clinical rotations in WVU Medicine's state-of-the art facilities, and ultimately transition from being a student to a valued member of the workforce, applying the clinical and leadership skills you learn during your time in the School of Medicine. We are committed to providing a supportive and inclusive environment for all, and pledge to provide our students with the tools and resources needed to thrive. As part of this, our small cohort sizes allow you to work closely with program faculty and clinical partners, and allow us to provide high-quality, individualized attention to our students.

I am proud to be a respiratory professional, and know that by the time you graduate from the Respiratory Therapy program at WVU, that you will be too. We appreciate the time you have taken to visit our website and hope that you will contact us with questions you may have about our undergraduate program, clinical opportunities, or the profession itself. We look forward to hearing from you!

Best wishes,
