Robert L. Robinson Medical Physiology Award

The Robert L. Robinson Medical Physiology Award in Honor of Robert L. Goodman is given to a second-year medical student in recognition of outstanding achievements in Medical Physiology.

This award is funded by the Robert L. Robinson Pharmacology Endowment. A graduate of Kansas University, Dr. Robinson received his Doctorate Degree in Pharmacology. He was one of the original faculty members of the School of Pharmacology at WVU. His career spanned 29 years from 1959 until his retirement in 1988.

Dr. Robert L. Goodman received his Doctorate Degree from the University of Pittsburgh in 1977 and joined the faculty of the WVU Department of Physiology as an assistant professor in 1980, where he was promoted to associate professor in 1985, and professor in 1990. He assumed the position of E.J. Van Liere Professor and Chairman of the Department of Physiology at WVU in 1998, which was converted to the E.J. Van Liere Professor and Chairman of Physiology and Pharmacology in 2001.  Dr. Goodman was instrumental in the development and implementation of the medical education mission of department. It is in the spirit of Drs. Robinson’s and Goodman’s dedication to medical student education that this award is presented.
