WELLNESS – MORGANTOWN CAMPUS MATCH WEEK:  March 13-17.  The Class of 2017 Morgantown Campus is sponsoring a week of evening activities as they celebrate the announcement of their residency program!  All are invited to join them.

COMMUNITY SERVICE OPPORTUNITY:  Consider participating in an educational research study that targets HIV patient education.  If you are interested in HIV patient care, please contact Dr. Cottrell or Diane Casdorph dcasdorph@hsc.wvu.edu  or Jeannette Southerly jsoutherly@hsc.wvu.edu  Students will earn community service for their effort.  Medical students will work with students from nursing and pharmacy to interview standardized patients during the week of March 20th.   It is estimated this will take approximately two hours per student to complete the activities

ANNUAL SCHOOL OF MEDICINE TALENT SHOW:  The School of Medicine Talent Show is planned for Monday, March 20th at 6:30pm in Okey Patteson Auditorium.  Join us for this special event; $10.00 a ticket which gives you 1 hour of community service.  Support your talented classmates! Sign-up requests for acts and volunteers will be emailed in the next couple weeks so keep an eye out!

COMMUNITY SERVICE OPPORTUNITY:  Berkeley Medical Center Health Promotions is planning the Truffle Shuffle 5k for April 29 in downtown Martinsburg.  Last year at least 1 med student came to work a first aid station at the finish.  Would we be able to get 1-2 med students again this year? COMMUNITY SERVICE OPPORTUNITY:  Volunteers needed to assist with spring Health Fairs sponsored by Shepherd School of Nursing.  Tentative dates- Feb. 16 and Thu. Mar. 30th.  Contact Cara Burker for more information. 

COMMUNITY SERVICE OPPORTUNITY:  “Choices” in cooperation with the Shepherd Nursing Students.  At Shenandoah Community Health Center, Sat. 2/18.  Students are being asked to present on one of the following topics for diabetic patients, eye care, dental care, diabetic foot care and issues, and possibly perform foot exams assisted by nursing students.  Time TBA, but this health class would be about 2 to 2.5 hours.    Contact Cara Burker, 304-876-5789.

GRADUATION QUESTIONNAIRE WEEK!  The AAMC will soon send out individual emails to graduating students requesting participation in the GQ (Graduation Questionnaire).  Student Services will host GQ week activities on each campus.   Prepare now to fully participate!  Watch for campus specific email notices.  Eastern Campus celebrates GQ week with a raffle for all MSIV participating students on Thu. Mar. 2 with a drawing on Mar. 2 at the Financial Planning seminar.  To Enter send the completion certificate at the end of the questionnaire to horstj@wvumedicine.org
