GOLD HUMANISM HONARY SOCIETY (GHHS) is hosting a conference called Appalachian Healthcare: Meeting the Needs of Patients and Communities. It will take place in the WVU Building on the CAMC Memorial campus in Kanawha City on March 23 from 9-3, and lunch will be provided. The goal of this conference is to examine Appalachians as an invisible minority, and to discuss common obstacles faced in the area, such as poverty, mental illness, addiction, limited access to healthcare, and coal related health issues. REMINDER - WVU MD LCME Survey: You should have received an email from Student Services on Monday morning asking you to complete the 16-question survey. The survey targets tutoring services, career planning, and the new lounge. Please consider completing this brief survey as having a high response rate is very important for our school!

ENT RESEARCH PARTICIPATION OPPORTUNITY – COMMUNITY/SCHOOL SERVICE:  ENT will be conducting a study to evaluate the need for further teaching in diseases of the head and neck. Medical students are invited to participate in a secure, brief, survey.  One half hour (0.5) of school/community service will be granted for participation.  Questions?  Dr. Daniel O’Brien.  

COMMUNITY SERVICE OPPORTUNITY:  Health Fair Tuesday April 26, 1-3 pm, at the Federal Correctional Institution in Morgantown, Volunteers needed to run 20 different informational booths - nutrition, exercise, cancer, dental care, heart disease, diabetes, etc. Questions? Tim Owens

SPECIAL COMMUNITY/SCHOOL SERVICE OPPORTUNITY:  M2 Volunteers needed to assist a gross anatomy lab coordinated by Drs. Klinkhachorn and Meigh for graduate students in the Dept. of Communication Sciences and Disorders (CSD).  The lab is based on stations of the head, neck, and torso. Proposed dates for this lab are MONDAY, April 11th, April 18th, or April 25 from 1:00pm-2:00pm (give or take a half hour on either end).   Interested?  kmmeigh@mail.wvu.edu.
