GLOBAL HEALTH WEEK October 17-21 – ALL STUDENTS INVITED! SEE FLYER

BRAday:  The WVU Cancer Institute sponsors many different events to raise breast cancer awareness and increase education to breast cancer patients and survivors. HSC COMMITTEE ON WELLNESS OPPORTUNITY:  As part of Dr. Marsh's initiative for a happy and healthier HSC, Dave Harshbarger is reaching out to current students to better understand how we can help support your health and wellness. Therefore, the committee on wellness is holding focus groups on two different days where you can share your thoughts and ideas on how to make HSC a better work and study environment. The groups will be held on October 21st and November 4th from 12-1 pm in HSC (location TBD).  In addition to sharing your thoughts about HSC, you will also be given one hour of community service toward the school. SPRING REGISTRATION INSTRUCTIONS come to class emails the first week of November; tuition payments due December 18.  Check your MIX/STAR accounts for any financial aid issues or University holds that will prevent your completion of these tasks.

ALL STUDENTS – FLU SHOT REQUIREMENT:  School of Medicine policy requires all MD students to have season flu vaccines at your own expense.  You’re CastleBranch (aka Certified) account will be available to receive this verification beginning October 1stThe deadline is December 1st.  Failure to complete this requirement WILL prohibit you from patient contact.

SPECIAL OPPORTUNITY: Volunteers needed to help with a speech therapy gross anatomy lab being coordinated by Dr. Klinkhachorn for undergrad students in the Dept. of Communication Sciences and Disorders (CSD).   Community service hours for your time.  The current proposed date for this lab is MONDAY, November 14 from 1:30-2:30pm. Interested?  Kimberly Meigh.

MANNA MEAL is taking place this Saturday, October 22nd, from 11:30 until 1:00 PM, John's Episcopal Church 1105 Quarrier Street.  Bring stethoscopes, blood pressure cuffs, and any other diagnostic tools that you'd like. Also, everyone is welcome to bring a box of cereal, a jar of peanut butter, crackers, or any fresh or packaged food items you may have.  Review the confidentiality, liability, and safety training PowerPoints on the CHASM website by following the link http://medicine.hsc.wvu.edu/charleston/student-services/chasm/.  Please indicate under the street rounds tab that you have completed the training PowerPoints by signing the Confidentiality and Liability forms.  You can sign-up by following the link above or feel free to email me Patrick Suggs.
